The ASUS ROG Phone 5 is one of the most common gaming smartphones available. It comes with design and software features that improve the play experience. Few new developments on its predecessor phone make it an outstanding choice for non-gamers. It’s still an expensive smartphone with noticeable camera deficiencies. Gamers can play longer with the ROG Phone 5 thanks to the monster 6000 mAh battery, and the phones come with a 30-watt HyperCharge adapter that tops up the battery in the shortest possible time.

Design

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 has a look similar to its predecessor, the ROG 3: a black rectangle with ports and buttons at the same position. The front has a narrow top and bottom bezels, with the best smartphones ever on, along with a selfie camera, earpiece, and warning light. The optical fingerprint scanner of the phone is quick and accurate under the Gorilla Glass Victus-covered display.

The metal frame of ASUS ROG Phone 5 has the standard volume and power key on the right side. There are also two AirTriggers, touch-sensitive areas on the same side which look like buttons on a gamepad. There is a USB-C connector on the left side, which is a part of the ROG series from the start. This time there is a capacitive strip to connect to accessories in place of another cable port.

As this is shallower than a dock, it makes it easier to pop out of the rubber plug. But the actual demonstration is on the back, where we have a light-up ROG-style dot matrix, which can be adapted for cycling between colors, flashing, or showing a color of your choice.

It gives a distinctive look to this phone even if you disable the ROG logo. Furthermore, the Gorilla Glass 3 covered back has a lot of red accentuations, like tiny “Gamers Republic” text, but the overall style isn’t as gross as gaming phones in the past.

Display

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 has an outstanding 6.78-inch AMOLED display in 1080 x 2448 pixel resolution. It will increase the refresh rate as high as 144Hz for a smooth experience or even 60 Hz more normal experience if you want to converse battery life.

The monitor is certified HDR 10+ which means an enhanced color and contrast for movies, with the lowest latency of 24.3 milliseconds on the phone. The latter indicates that the ROG Phone 5 responds to your gaming inputs quicker than any other established smartphone which is invaluable for hardcore and even professional gamers. But it is not something that you will note regularly.

Besides having nice colors, as AMOLED screens are often used, the screen of the Asus ROG Phone 5 can be bright as well. Fortunately, the minimum visibility of ASUS ROG Phone 5 has been enhanced by Asus so it is now easier to look at a display in front of the bed.

The display can be customized to your taste, like most things we’re about to do with the Asus ROG Phone 5. It has many settings, including “Natural” and “Cinematic,” but you can also manually change the color temperature if you want. There is also an alternative called “Night Light” to reduce the blue tones of the show, which is presumably easier to see at night.

Also, the Asus ROG Phone 5 has an option to always view. The time, date, battery percentage, and notifying icons on the screen will be displayed on the phone when enabled. But this is going to affect the life of the battery.

You can flaunt this amazing smartphone with your friends and family as the AURA RGB lighting on this smartphone elevates its aesthetic appeal. The two RGB LEDs in the logo offer a cool gradient lighting effect, amkign it a delight to play games when you’re at home or outdoors. This AURA RGB LED can also be used for notification purposes as well.

Audio and Call Quality

One of the critical aspects of ROG Phone 3 last year and the feature that has been forgotten most in every phone is the consistency of the speaker. Asus ROG Phone 5 has even bigger and larger stereo speakers that look even better.

According to their successful stereo isolation, the ASUS ROG Phone 5 speakers are easily able to compete with small Bluetooth speakers and also with several tablets and laptop speakers, each on a separate phone side, and their excellent bass and clarity.

And AudioWizard will return the ASUS ROG Phone 5 to settle the tone to your taste. In addition to the dedicated three-way sliders, this easy-to-use software includes audio settings, and an equalizer to play with. The ASUS ROG Phone 5 won in the bass department also in an unequal battle against my iPad Air 4. Of course, the sound is normally not rich and bass on its own, though, but it is richer and more detailed than any phone.

The ASUS ROG Phone 5 also comes with a headset jacket and high-quality DCs for high-wired sounds. This is a good surprise because the ROG Phone 3 last year had no headphone jack at all. There is not so much to tell about call quality. Because today most mid-range and flagship telephones have a decent piece of gear and microphones.

As one would guess, voice chat during game sessions is fantastic for calling ASUS ROG Phone 5. The handset has a quad microphone setup with noise reduction equipment for this latter in particular. The microphones are mounted in such a manner that they cannot all be obscured unintentionally regardless of how the ROG 5 is carried.

Camera

The Asus ROG Phone 5 provides a decent triple camera setup, even though the cameras are away from the emphasis of a playful smartphone. The main camera is a Sony IMX686 Sony 64-megapixel capable of shooting up to 8 kilograms. Both cameras have an ultrawide 13MP as well as a 5MP macro.

The large-angle camera produces especially cool effects, at least for those who are in stylized photography without the broad-angle deformation effect, in good illumination images. The principal camera, especially for a gaming phone, is no slug and should be well enough for most people. The choice is to take pictures in portrait mode, which works well in distinguishing the subject from the background, plus allowing you to change the bubble to the background.

Gaming

The ROG phone series has enhanced its rest to make the average user more attractive but it has still been a player and the ASUS ROG Phone 5 is the best play phone still in existence. This could be less praiseworthy than it used to be when it was competitive in previous years, but the new phone still has the finest phone hardware and apps for play.

On the top and bottom right hand, two ultrasound keys transform into the buttons on the shoulder while the device is turned sideways. They are receptive and easier to map into any game you play than before, even though you have to remove the overlay menu to turn on and set the activation area to be enabled manually.

This smartphone boasts AirTrigger 5 and ultrasonic buttons to take gaming sessions to the next level. The AirTrigger 5 control system uses up to 9 sensors to offer enhanced accuracy/sensitivity, buttons, positioning (closer to the edge for smaller hands), and plenty of motion-sensing inputs, enabling a console-like gaming experience. This ASUS smartphone is capable of mapping up to 14 specific touchpoints on the screen at the same time. Not only that, but the AeroActive Cooler 5 offers two additional physical buttons, offering up to a total of 16 touch inputs excluding the ones on the screen.

It is still a directory for all your apps, although there are also more ways to configure the way your phone functions for each game.

The phone’s mid-game app also has new features: Game Genie has an interface that is more easily understood, and a new sport mode is in place to deactivate distracting alerts and any macro program. Overall, the Asus ROG 5’s powerful spectra, superb camera, hardware, and software supporting gameplay, and decent battery life are no surprise combined with a greater experience than on any other handset on the market today.

ASUS ROG Phone 5 smartphone stays cool even when you are playing a graphics-intensive game.
