Juniper Networks and Amdocs Showcase Joint Virtualized Customer Premises Equipment Solution at Mobile World Congress
Barcelona, Spain, March 2, 2015: Juniper Networks, the leader in network innovation, and Amdocs, the leading provider of customer experience solutions, will showcase an automated virtualized customer premises equipment (vCPE) solution to meet enterprise customer demands for new, user-defined services here at Mobile World Congress. The jointly developed offering will be demonstrated at Amdocs’ booth (Hall 3, Booth 3G10).
Available today, the vCPE solution, which leverages Juniper Networks vMXrouter and vSRX firewall to deliver full-featured capabilities and industry-leading performance as a virtual function, enables service providers to quickly introduce a broad set of services for their enterprise customers using virtual CPE. In addition, the joint offering also utilizes Juniper Networks Contrail Networking, an open SDN solution for cloud and network functions virtualization (NFV).
The Amdocs Network Cloud Service Orchestrator allows provisioning and rapid fulfillment of both virtual and physical network functions services. As part of the joint offering, Juniper and Amdocs are also providing a user portal for self-service selection, a service catalog and service creation capability, and a wide range of delivery and managed services options to help service providers transition to an IT cloud operating model.
“Service providers recognize the business value of software-powered service chaining as they seek to make their networks more dynamic and better able to adapt to rapid change,” said Gabriel Brown, senior analyst at Heavy Reading. “Virtual CPE is one of the primary use-cases for NFV and there is clear evidence that service providers will invest in the technology if they have the software solutions they need to achieve true service agility.”
“Together Amdocs and Juniper Networks are delivering an end-to-end virtualized service offering that enables service providers to achieve the unprecedented agility of cloud providers and accelerate the provisioning of a wide range of virtual enterprise services, without sacrificing the performance and scalability of their network,” said Mike Marcellin, senior vice president of marketing and strategy at Juniper Networks. “By integrating Juniper’s virtual routing and security platforms through open interfaces and leveraging the powerful service chaining that Contrail brings, Amdocs is able to seamlessly integrate physical and virtualized network functions into a platform for service delivery.”
“Service providers around the world are embracing network virtualization to lower costs as well as to develop an agile platform to create new revenue opportunities,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president of product and solutions marketing at Amdocs. “This vCPE solution from Juniper and Amdocs provides a logical starting point for service providers on their journey to a virtualized environment – enabling programmable service chains that bring together the physical and virtual networks. It leverages the strengths of both companies and delivers an end-to-end, extensible automated solution that can be deployed right now. Amdocs’ heritage of service management and orchestration gives us a unique understanding of the communications market.”
