Telegram Launches Latest Features Including Multi-Tab Browser, Mini App Store, Gifting Stars and More
Telegram has rolled out multiple innovative features aimed at enhancing user experience and expanding the capabilities of the platform.
The latest update introduces a powerful in-app browser with multi-tab support, a comprehensive Mini App Store, the ability to gift Stars and several other enhancements designed to provide a seamless and enriched experience for almost one billion monthly users.
Telegram Browser
Telegram’s new in-app browser now supports multiple tabs, allowing users to easily switch between messages, websites, instant view articles, and mini apps without losing their place. This feature also supports decentralized websites hosted on TON across all mobile and native desktop apps, making Web3 accessible to Telegram’s vast user base. Users can collapse and reopen pages from the bottom bar, add bookmarks for future reference and receive notifications without interrupting their browsing experience.
Mini App Store
Telegram’s Mini App Store now includes an ‘Apps’ tab in the Search feature, showcasing a list of used and popular mini apps. With over 500 million users interacting with mini apps each month, this new addition allows for quick access to favourite games and services, and the discovery of new apps. Developers can upload video demos and screenshots to preview their mini apps, increasing visibility and user engagement. Mini apps that utilize Telegram Stars are also eligible to appear in the ‘Popular Apps’ section, providing developers with an opportunity to reach a wider audience.
Sharing from Mini Apps to Stories
Telegram introduces the ability for mini apps to generate custom story content. Users can now share AI-generated videos, achievements, or snapshots of leader boards as a Telegram Story directly from the mini app. This feature not only promotes new kinds of apps but also helps existing ones spread among users’ contacts.
Gifting Stars to Friends
Telegram Stars, which allow users to purchase digital goods in mini apps or access paid content in channels, can now be gifted to friends. Users can buy stars as a gift by navigating to Settings > My Stars (iOS users will see this menu only if they have previously purchased stars). Contacts celebrating their birthday will appear at the top of the list and gifted stars will be displayed in chat as a beautifully animated gift box.
Flash when Recording Video Messages
Video messages on Telegram now come with an enhanced feature that enables the use of the front flash for recording in low-light conditions. Users can tap the microphone icon in the message bar to switch to video recording, then press and hold the camera icon to record a video message. By swiping up, users can continue recording, and tapping the flash icon in the bottom left corner will activate the front flash.
Weather Widget in Stories
A new animated weather widget can now be added to stories, providing real-time weather updates for various activities, from sunny selfies to snowy adventures. The widget automatically adjusts between Celsius and Fahrenheit based on the viewer’s device settings and shows the moon phase on clear nights. Users can also add music, links or a location to their story from the ‘Stickers’ section.
Story Covers
Users posting video stories to their profile can now choose a specific frame to use as the cover photo, adding a personalized touch to their stories.
Browser and Mini App Tabs on MacOS
Telegram for MacOS now features a stunning new browser with multi-tab support, allowing users to access games, mini apps, instant view pages, and Web3 ton-sites effortlessly.
With these latest features, Telegram continues to enhance its platform, offering users a more dynamic and integrated experience.
