Xiaomi launches Redmi 4A and announces its second manufacturing unit in India
Leading smartphone company Xiaomi has taken yet another step in its journey to bring the best smartphone technology to all Indians. Redmi 4A which boasts of a high capacity battery, powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon425 processor, and a 13MP camera, was launched today at INR 5,999. Reaffirming its commitment to Make in India, the company also announced its second manufacturing unit in partnership with Foxconn at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh.
Xiaomi entered India in July 2014 and quickly announced plans to establish its first manufacturing plant. The first plant went live in August 2015 and by March 2016, over 75 percent of its phones were being manufactured in India.
With the new manufacturing plant, more than 95 percent of Xiaomi’s smartphones sold in India are now manufactured in India. Xiaomi will now have a combined production capacity of one phone per second during operational hours.
The plant has also helped create employment for more than 5000 people from over 100 surrounding villages. More than 90 percent of the workforce employed are women.

Redmi 4A is made from a single piece of seamless polycarbonate with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor and a massive 3120mAh battery. These ensure a smooth user experience with power to last beyond a day.
Even with its high capacity battery, Redmi 4A remains just 8.5mm slim, and weighs just 131.5 grams. Redmi 4A boasts a 13MP rear camera to capture sharp and crisp photos and scenic shots, and a 5MP front facing camera with Beautify for great selfies.
Redmi 4A has been designed for full compatibility with India’s LTE cellular networks, including support for LTE Band 5 used for Voice over LTE (VoLTE).
