YU joins forces with the consumers to bring in the most awaited ‘YUPHORIA’

New Delhi, India, April 8 2015: YU, the new age technology brand that strives to work with the community to create an ecosystem of connected devices today announced that its much-anticipated next launch, Project Caesar will be now be called YUPHORIA, a name chosen through India’s first ever crowd-sourced smartphone-naming campaign #YUNameIt. Expanding over the span of 7 days, the campaign reflected YU’s core credo- ‘YUPlayGod’, and threw the decision ball in the consumers’ court by not only inviting entries from them but also making them the judge of the final moniker for Project Caesar. The forthcoming Cyanogen powered device has already generated a lot of fanfare across social media platforms which resonated in the tremendous response received for #YUNameIt with more than 1,00,000 entries.

YU stands for the consumers and the brand is focused on revolutionizing the mobility experience through highly customizable and individuality driven technology. After the unprecedented success of its first device YUREKA, their upcoming device, earlier codenamed Project Caesar, is the next big thing to watch out for. #YUNameIt was an endeavor from YU to give more power to its fans and the community, breaking the conventional way of naming devices. And as the fans will have it, the name YUPHORIA represents zeal, enthusiasm and passion which reflects what YU is committed to bringing to the consumers through innovating and reinventing technology.

YU had announced #YUNameIt on its social media platforms on 31st March, 2015. Participants submitted their entries till 3rd April 2015. Top 5 names (YUPHORIA, YUKNIGHT, YUNICORN, YUNITY, YOUTH) then made it to the voting stage, and were put to test between 4th to 6th April. One month of anticipation, one code name and over 1,00,000 entries later, the consumers’ votes favored YUPHORIA, the chosen identity for Project Caesar.

Five randomly selected lucky winners from the entries for name YUPHORIA will win the new YU device. Participants have also won Amazon Gift Cards worth INR 1 Lakh throughout the campaign.
