Uninor launches Swachhta Abhiyaan at Haridwar

Uninor-LogoHaridwar, India, March 01, 2015: Uninor, 100% subsidiary of Norway-based Telenor Group, has launched a cleanliness and awareness drive at ‘Har Ki Pauri’ in Haridwar under its ‘Uninor Swachhta Abhiyaan’. The campaign started in presence of Shri. Manoj Garg, Mayor of Haridwar and Madan Kaushik, MLA-Haridwar.

As part of the Swachhta Abhiyaan, Uninor contributed 100 bins to be installed at the ghats to keep the surroundings clean. Uninor employees and its channel partners picked up garbage and cleaned the banks of holy river Ganga to initiate their mission of keeping the pilgrimage city clean.

Shri Manoj Garg, Haridwar city mayor said, ‘‘We applaud Uninor’s efforts to support the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’. We should realize that no individual, government, body or corporate can accomplish this mission alone. It is the responsibility of every individual to keep the surroundings clean. I would like to personally thank Uninor for this thought provoking initiative as I strongly believe that such awareness drives leave an deep impact on people’s mind”.

Uninor has given the slogan ‘Uninor Ki Ichha, Haridwar ki Swachhta’ as a call for action to the residents of Haridwar as well as the pilgrims to keep the city clean.

Haridwar is the second city in the country where Uninor has launched its cleanliness drive. In December 2014, a similar drive was carried out in Varanasi. This year Uninor will be extending its Swachh Bharat initiatives to other cities in its six operational circles. Simultaneously, the company is working across cities on multiple initiatives like building toilets for girls in schools across UP West, Andhra Pradesh/Telangana and Maharashtra. In Gujarat, Uninor has been engaged in cleaning up cities and putting up dustbins in designated areas like vegetable markets, etc.
